Sustainability Reporting Using the GRI G3 Framework

The Global Reporting Initiative will run two Sustainability Reporting Workshop sessions using the GRI G3 Framework on consecutive days. The first one will exclusively be for Kenyan participants while the second will be general and open to interested participants from Africa and beyond.

The half-day workshop will provide participants with an introduction to GRI and the services it provides. It will show why and how the G3 guideline framework can assist organizations to manage and report on their social, economic and environmental impacts.

Participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the changes in business context & the drivers for sustainability for organizations.
  • Differentiate between philanthropy and responsible (sustainable) management.
  • Provide reasons why organizations of all types and sizes are preparing sustainability reports.
  • Explain what GRI is and how it can help your organization to understand and measure sustainability impacts.
  • Identify the main characteristics of the GRI framework for reporting.
  • Identify the five phases of the sustainability reporting process.
  • Provide a list of activities to be done under each phase.
  • Prepare a realistic time line for covering the major activities necessary to complete a GRI report.

Linking Africa with Brazil and India Biofuel Markets

The Partners for Euro-African Green Energy, or PANGEA, will run a biofuels trading workshop on “Trade, not Aid: Links with Brazil and India”.

PANGEA works to encourage biofuel production in Africa as a way to promote sustainable economic development using what Africa does best—agriculture. By adding the technology of Brazil, India and others to the mix, agriculture becomes something that Europe needs—sustainably produced biofuels.

The highlights of this workshop include: Linking the African Market with Brazilian and Indian Biofuel Industries; Maximizing on Africa’s Bio-energy Potential and Trade Opportunities; Insights on EU Policy Framework.
